Scholarship Description: The Mikeladze-Dvali group aims to delineate mechanisms regulating centrosome dynamics within the framework of embryogenesis and development. Centrosomes, crucial microtubule organizing centers in animal cells, undergo dynamic changes during the cell cycle. Deregulation of centrosomes is implicated in diseases from cancer to microcephaly. This project, employing C. elegans as a model system, will utilize molecular biology, genetics, live-cell imaging, and biochemistry techniques to study the regulation of centrosomal proteins during embryogenesis.
Eligibility: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in biology or related fields, demonstrate the ability to design and conduct experiments, and exhibit strong motivation and teamwork skills. Basic coding skills (Python or R) are essential, along with good communication skills. Previous experience with C. elegans, imaging, image analysis, or biochemistry is advantageous but not mandatory.
