Research Area
The PhD candidate will research mathematical methods for predicting and understanding collective motion in active oscillator networks, contributing to innovative control strategies and design principles for intelligent materials. This research is a part of the consortium Emergence at all Scales (EAAS) funded by the Dutch science foundation NWO.
Eligibility/Qualification
- A (prospective) MSc degree in Mathematics or Physics (or equivalent)
- A strong interest in becoming an independent researcher
- Willingness to participate in science communication activities and/or high school teaching
- Good communication skills in English
Description
This position involves conducting research to write a PhD thesis and includes teaching responsibilities, such as supervising university exercise classes and assisting high school teachers. Candidates are encouraged to engage in various scientific activities, meetings, and workshops within the EAAS consortium, facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations across fields.
