Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed MSc degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Biomedical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in physics-based and data-driven modeling is advantageous
  • Good understanding of human thermal physiology and comfort
  • Interest in experimental work and interdisciplinary research
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (both written and oral)

Job Description:
The PhD project aims to develop a holistic approach to the energy performance of various types of personalized comfort systems (PCS) by analyzing heat transfer between the PCS and the human body. The candidate will:

  • Simulate asymmetric and heterogeneous thermal exposures using existing tools and scientific literature.
  • Conduct systematic experimental studies with full-body thermal manikins and HVAC monitoring manikins, including data analysis and model development.
  • Design and perform human comfort trials to validate findings.
  • Write and present scientific contributions, including journal papers, conference presentations, and outreach events.
