Study Area: This PhD position delves into the interdisciplinary field of Computational Biophysics and Biomolecular Modeling. The focus is on understanding the physical and chemical mechanisms governing the organization of metabolic pathways in living cells.
Scholarship Description: The PhD project, titled “Computational Modeling of Dynamic Enzyme Assemblies,” explores the formation and functionality of dynamic enzyme assemblies in response to external conditions within living cells. The project employs atomistic, coarse-grained, and kinetic modeling, integrated with experimental data. The student will characterize molecular interactions, investigate substrate transfer within assemblies, and develop computational methodologies to predict metabolic fluxes. The research enhances understanding of the regulation and control of metabolic pathways, offering insights into adaptability and efficiency.
Eligibility: Candidates are expected to hold an MSc (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, or a related field. Strong mathematical modeling skills, an interest in biomolecules, and proficiency in English are essential. Computer skills and experience with molecular simulations and programming are advantageous. Successful candidates will enroll at Charles University in Prague.
