Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in computational mechanics, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, biomedical engineering, or related field
  • Good knowledge of numerical methods and finite-element analysis
  • Solid programming skills in C++ and/or Python
  • Experience with SOFA, FEniCSx, or similar simulation frameworks is a strong plus
  • Motivation to work at the intersection of mechanics, AI, and medical technology
  • Language Requirements: B2-level proficiency in the language of the thesis

Job Description

The PhD candidate will:

  • Develop error-controlled biomechanical models in frameworks such as SOFA, FEniCSx, or SOniCS for real-time applications on AR devices.
  • Design Bayesian neural-network surrogates and graph-based models for tissue deformation and brain shift.
  • Couple physics-based and data-driven models, exploring real-time transitions.
  • Integrate with ARSPECTRA’s software stack, including marker tracking, SLAM, and gaze tracking, while participating in clinical studies.
