Eligibility/Qualification
- MSc degree in Electrical Power Engineering
- Strong emphasis on electrical power systems with focus on power system protection and wide area monitoring applications
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power system operation
- Proficiency in programming and familiarity with EMT-based software tools like PSS/E
- Knowledge of RTDS is advantageous
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent writing and English communication skills (TOEFL score of 100 or IELTS of 7.0)
Description
The project involves research in dynamic line rating (DLR) technology aimed at improving the thermal limits, voltage stability, and transient stability of power systems. The successful candidate will work on developing an optimization-based application to determine dynamic system ratings among virtual zones in a decentralized set-up, ensuring compliance with real-time system security requirements. This application will be tested using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) platforms and is expected to run continuously during normal operations, providing optimal preventive and corrective actions for system security.
