Fully Funded PhD Position in Estuarine Dynamics and Environmental Changes

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Must hold a Master’s degree in Earth Science, Physical Geography, Civil Engineering, Geology, or other relevant discipline
- Experience with sediment transport, morphodynamics, or hydrodynamics of rivers, deltas, estuaries, or coasts
- Proficiency in a programming language, e.g. Python or Matlab
- Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team
Job Description:
The selected candidate will:
- Identify boundary conditions of global estuaries based on literature and databases
- Run idealized Delft3D simulations and characterize morphodynamic feedbacks in estuaries of different sizes
- Develop scenarios to test adaptation rates of estuaries to anthropogenic pressures, explore the effects of climate change scenarios, or investigate spatially varying natural processes
- Collaborate with supervisors from TU Delft and Utrecht University
