PhD Position in Effusive Cryovolcanic Activity: The Institute of Geophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IG CAS) in Prague is inviting applications for a fully-funded, full-time Ph.D. position focusing on innovative research exploring effusive cryovolcanic activity. Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Geosciences, Planetary Sciences, or Physics
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher

  • Applicants cannot already hold a PhD or be currently enrolled in another doctoral program
  • Must commit to full-time or part-time study on campus

Description

This PhD position will focus on researching the double phase transition of water in vacuum-like and Mars-like pressure environments. The candidate will explore how boiling water affects the freezing process, the structure of the resulting ice, and the influence of salts and changes in flow. Tasks include conducting experiments, data analysis, developing a numerical model, and preparing academic publications. Active participation in international conferences and knowledge dissemination is expected.
