Research Area
The project aims to optimize charging strategies for heterogeneous fleets of electric vehicles, addressing urgent charging needs while conforming to Low Voltage and Medium Voltage grid constraints. It also seeks to explore advanced decomposition methods and relaxations of linear programming models.
Location
Utrecht University, Faculty of Science, Department of Information and Computing Sciences, Utrecht, Netherlands.
Eligibility/Qualification
- A Master’s degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Familiarity with optimisation methods such as linear programming and decomposition methods.
- Proficiency in programming (Python preferred).
- Experience in data processing for optimisation models.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficient in English.
- Familiarity with electric grids and charging schemes is an advantage.
Description
In this four-year research project, the candidate will develop optimisation models designed to manage the charging demands of diverse electric vehicle fleets. Key responsibilities include working with realistic datasets on charging profiles, analyzing their performance, and collaborating within an international research setting. The programme also offers opportunities for technical and personal development courses.
