Eligibility/Qualification: Ideal candidates should have a solid background in environmental microbiology and molecular ecology, with experience in anaerobic cultivation and molecular biological techniques preferred. Description: This PhD project aims to investigate arsenic mobilization mechanisms in groundwater systems in the Red River Delta, Hanoi, Vietnam, focusing on anaerobic Fe(III)-reducing methane-oxidizing microorganisms. The successful candidate will conduct field sampling campaigns, followed by molecular biological and bioinformatic analyses to characterize microbial community composition, genomic potential, and gene expression patterns. Working closely with a second PhD student from a joint project, the candidate will contribute to advancing understanding in environmental microbiology and its implications for groundwater quality and public health.
