PhD Position in Evolutionary Ecology: The Evolutionary Ecology Lab at CCMB is currently seeking applicants for a five-year PhD position starting in January 2025. Join our team in exploring biodiversity patterns and processes in tropical forests, focusing on the Western and Eastern Ghats mountain ranges in peninsular India.

Research Area:
Our research delves into the generation and maintenance of biodiversity in tropical forests. We utilize an integrative taxonomic approach to document tropical diversity and investigate the geological, evolutionary, and ecological processes shaping diversity patterns and species assembly in these ecosystems.
Location: Laboratory for Conservation of Endangered Species (LaCONES) at CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India.
Eligibility/Qualification:
Candidates with a master’s degree in any branch of Science, holding a minimum of 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS, and 50% marks for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender, and Persons with Disability (PwD) are eligible. Applicants are required to possess a valid National-level Fellowship (JRF/ SRF) or equivalent fellowship from recognized agencies.
Job Description:
- Conduct research on biodiversity in tropical forests focusing on the Western and Eastern Ghats.
- Employ interdisciplinary approaches in ecology and evolution, including biogeography, phylogenetics, and population genetics.
- Participate in fieldwork to build natural history collections and contribute to ongoing research efforts.
