Study Area: The PhD position centers on the interdisciplinary field of Photonics, emphasizing the integration of magneto-optical composite materials on plasmonic platforms for optical circulator realization.

Scholarship Description: The core objective is to contribute to the development of an integrated magneto-plasmonic circulator, employing magneto-optical (MO) nanoparticle-biplasmonic (MBP) materials. Optical circulators, crucial in telecommunications systems, guide light nonreciprocally between three ports. This project, part of the CIRCULIGHT initiative, involves demonstrations on InP and Si platforms at wavelengths of 1.3 or 1.5 μm. The PhD student will engage in MO material synthesis, device fabrication, and optical characterizations, collaborating with consortium partners.

Eligibility: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Physics with a specialization in Optics and Materials Science. Familiarity with sol-gel processes, magneto-optics, and plasmonics is advantageous. The ideal applicant exhibits motivation for experimental studies, proficiency in English, and strong collaborative skills.

Required Documents: Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Cover Letter
  3. Master’s degree certificate
  4. Academic transcripts
  5. Any additional relevant documents supporting the application

How to Apply: Interested candidates should send their application, including the required documents, to Francois Royer at francois.royer@univ-st-etienne.fr.

Last Date: Until position filled
