PhD Position in Human-Robot Collaborations: Chalmers University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join their research in the areas of Interpretable Artificial Intelligence (IAI) and Autonomous Decision-Making for Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC). Eligibility/Qualification

  • A master’s degree (or equivalent, at least 240 higher education credits) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Applied Mathematics, or similar fields.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning methods applied to the robotics domain.
  • Proficient programming skills in C++ and experience with ROS (Robot Operating System); knowledge of Python, Unity, and Prolog is also advantageous.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Meritorious experience includes teaching, cross-disciplinary collaboration, international exchange, teamwork, and peer-reviewed publications as the first author.

Job Description

The PhD student will pursue independent research within the scope of the project, developing original scientific concepts and presenting research findings at academic conferences and in journal articles. Responsibilities also include collaborating with team members and external researchers from academia and industry. The role encompasses specific departmental obligations, typically involving teaching for approximately 20% of the working hours. The position is full-time and limited to a maximum of five years.

The selected candidate will join the WASP graduate school, which provides interdisciplinary training in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and software. This program supports forming a strong professional network through research visits, partner universities, and visiting lecturers.
