Educational BackgroundMaster’s degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related discipline
KnowledgeExtensive knowledge of X-ray methods and optics; understanding of synchrotron science; knowledge of catalysis and energy storage
Technical SkillsExperience with programming languages (ideally Python) and SPS controls systems
Language ProficiencyFluent in written and spoken English
Personal AttributesIndependent, self-motivated, excellent teamwork skills, high motivation to take on responsibility

Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Design and develop an in-house X-ray beamline.
  • Investigate relationships between catalyst structure, morphology, and performance under realistic long-term deployment conditions.
  • Coordinate and execute beam times, collaborate with other research groups, and engage in international conferences.
  • Prepare scientific publications and project reports while supporting the establishment of the institute.

This is a fixed-term position of 3 years with potential for long-term prospects, providing a competitive salary aligned with 75% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) and additional benefits, including a Christmas bonus.
