Eligibility/Qualification

CriteriaDetails
Educational BackgroundMaster’s degree in high voltage or electric power engineering, or equivalent.
Academic PerformanceStrong academic record with average grade B or better.
Language ProficiencyEnglish language skills (B2 level CEFR). Documentation through TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge English is encouraged.
ExperiencePreferable work/research experience in high voltage insulation techniques and degradation-ageing of materials.
SkillsKnowledge of numerical simulations (e.g., Python, MATLAB) will be advantageous.

Description

The Department of Electric Energy at NTNU is looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate to conduct research on the insulation properties and long-term performance of new gas mixtures, aimed at filling scientific gaps in the transition to SF₆-free switchgear. The project addresses critical research questions about partial discharge properties over time and their relevance in new gas systems.
