PhD Position in Machine Learning: The University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust (SnT) is offering a PhD position in Machine Learning and Simulation-based Analysis for Smart Grids. This role involves developing methods to predict the impact of consumer behavior on the smart grid and assess its resilience to extreme conditions. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Creos S.A., Luxembourg’s primary energy network manager, to create prototype tools demonstrating research outcomes.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Degree: MSc degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- Skills: Strong programming skills, good knowledge of computer science, and strong software development capabilities
- Experience: Familiarity with machine learning, simulation-based analysis, multi-objective optimization, smart energy grids, software engineering, and data collection/storage pipelines
- Language: Fluent in English (French is a plus)
Job Description:
- Conduct research in predefined areas related to smart grids
- Survey relevant scientific literature
- Disseminate research findings through scientific publications
- Communicate with industry partners to gather requirements and report results
- Develop proof-of-concept software tools to showcase research benefits
