Fully Funded PhD Position in Multimodal Characterization of Magnetic Nanomaterials

Research Area: Multimodal Characterization of Magnetic Nanomaterials with X-ray and Ferromagnetic Resonance
Location: Uppsala University, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Uppsala, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
- Basic knowledge and skills in X-ray scattering
- Not resided in Sweden for more than 12 months during the period 2021-08-30 to 2024-08-31 for work or studies as the main occupation
- Good oral and written skills in English
Additional Qualifications (Advantageous):
- Knowledge and skills in programming with Python or data analysis with Jupyter notebooks
- Experience in areas such as SAXS, magnetic materials, electrochemical testing of batteries, or gas sorption
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in academic writing
- Willingness to travel efficiently and financially appropriately, including potential international travel
Job Description:
The main duty for a doctoral student is to dedicate themselves to their research studies, including participating in the research project and PhD courses. It may also include teaching and other departmental duties (no more than 20%). The position corresponds to full-time PhD education for four years, involving independent project management, collaboration with other researchers, and the opportunity for interdisciplinary and intersectoral knowledge acquisition. The role also entails participation in international conferences, periodic project meetings, training schools, specialized courses, and a secondment at the MAX IV laboratory in Lund, Sweden.
