PhD Position in Materials Chemistry: The Giordani group at Dublin City University (DCU) is seeking highly motivated candidates for a fully-funded four-year PhD position in Materials Chemistry and Nanotechnology. The successful candidate will work on the development of biocompatible nano-platforms for biomedical applications. The position offers a tax-free stipend of €22,000 per annum and opportunities for international collaboration.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields (organic chemistry, materials chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, physical chemistry, or related disciplines)
  • Strong research skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and willingness to travel for conferences and collaborations

Job Description

  • Collaborate on the design, synthesis, and characterization of carbon nanoparticles
  • Present research findings at conferences and seminars, and publish in scientific journals
  • Participate in outreach activities
  • Carry out administrative tasks to ensure project completion on time and within budget
  • Engage in occasional undergraduate supervision and teaching
  • Plan and coordinate research programs and use of resources
  • Liaise with colleagues, students, and external networks for information exchange and collaboration
