Postdoc Position in Germany 2019 -LMU Research Fellowships

PhD Position in Medical Microbiology: The Max von Pettenkofer Institute for Medical Microbiology and Hygiene at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich is offering an ERC-funded position for a Doctoral Scientist/Ph.D. student. The research project will focus on the ecological and evolutionary drivers of prophage distribution in gut commensals and pathogens.

Max von Pettenkofer Institute, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany (city center).

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed undergraduate degree (Master or equivalent) in life sciences, biomedical, or natural sciences.
  • Strong background in bioinformatics.
  • Very good spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in microbiology, ideally with BSL2 pathogens and prophages, is beneficial but can be acquired during the Ph.D. project.

Job Description:
The successful applicant will engage in high-throughput bioinformatic analysis, RNA-seq, and in-vitro microbiology assays. The research will contribute to developing a novel form of phage therapy as part of the ERC-funded PHAGE-PRO team. The position offers access to state-of-the-art technology and methodologies in a diverse and international research environment.
