Research Area
The research will investigate the development of gut microbiota in children, exploring how various environmental, clinical, and lifestyle factors influence microbial community development from birth to three years of age.
Eligibility/Qualification
- Educational Background: Minimum of 240 higher education credits (hc), including at least 60 hc at an advanced level, in natural sciences, life sciences, or engineering.
- Skills: Proficient in English (oral and written), independent and collaborative work capabilities.
- Meritorious Qualifications:
- Degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, (bio)statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related fields.
- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python or R.
- Experience in large-scale sequence analysis, microbial genomics, gut microbiota research, and UNIX systems.
Job Description
The doctoral candidate will analyze fecal shotgun data from 500 children, aiming to understand the adaptive mechanisms of gut bacteria and enhance microbiota-aided therapies. The position offers access to a collaborative research environment within the Data-Driven Life Sciences (DDLS) program.
