Research Area

Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree (120 credits) or equivalent in Materials Science, Engineering Physics, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Documented experience in advanced microstructure characterization and metallic materials.
- Interest in machine learning.
- For international applicants: a 4-year Bachelor’s degree is acceptable.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with cast aluminium and electron microscopy.
Description
As a PhD student, you will:
- Develop and apply advanced microanalytical techniques to characterise recycled aluminium alloys.
- Investigate how tramp elements affect microstructure and properties of recycled aluminium.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team specializing in computational mechanics, computer vision, and machine learning.
- Present findings in scientific journals and at international conferences.
- Involve in teaching at Chalmers’ undergraduate level for up to 20% of working hours.
Contract Terms
- Fully funded for four years; the position can extend to five years if teaching is included.
- Starting salary: 34,550 SEK per month (valid from May 25, 2025).
