Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in material science, physics, chemistry, or mechanical engineering.
- Strong background in the physics and chemistry of colloidal systems.
- Prior experience with optical/confocal microscopy, soft (bio)materials, and image analysis techniques (Matlab/Python/Mathematica).
- Curious, a good team player, and motivated to work independently at the forefront of sustainable materials.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Job Description:
The project aims to develop novel methods to engineer the structure of bacterial cellulose at different length scales and create functional materials for sustainable applications. This will involve using a combination of bottom-up and top-down approaches to control structural features, characterizing structure-function relationships with various techniques (including microscopy, mechanical tests, and X-rays), and exploring integrations of biofabricated materials with sustainable buildings.
