PhD Position in Mitochondrial Cristae: Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD (APAD position, 65% DFG-funded) at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Medical School, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany. The project focuses on understanding the role of mitochondrial cristae membrane dynamics and the MICOS complex in regulating metabolic fluxes in mammalian cells.

Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants must have:

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in:
    • Biochemistry
    • Biophysics
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Or closely related natural science disciplines
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in:
    • Biochemistry
    • Molecular biology
    • Cell biology
  • Very good proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Strong interest in working in an international research team
  • Deep scientific curiosity toward unresolved biological questions
  • High motivation and passion for scientific research

Job Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Investigate the link between mitochondrial cristae membrane dynamics and metabolic regulation in mammalian cells
  • Study the functional role of the MICOS complex in regulating metabolic fluxes
  • Apply a broad spectrum of biochemical, molecular, and cell biological techniques
  • Work collaboratively in an international, interdisciplinary research environment
  • Contribute to scientific publications and presentations
