Research Area
The primary focus of the research will be on chronic infections and antibiotic resistance, using AI and single-cell technology to study bacterial survival mechanisms.
Eligibility/Qualification
- General Entry Requirements: Must hold qualifications equivalent to a completed degree at the second-cycle level or complete course requirements of at least 240 ECTS credits, including at least 60 ECTS credits at the second-cycle level.
- Specific Entry Requirements:
- At least 90 credits in the main field of study (molecular biology), with courses in chemistry, cell and molecular biology, genetics, and microbiology.
- Course requirements of at least 30 credits at an advanced level in molecular biology, including an independent project of at least 15 credits.
- Proficiency in English (oral and written).
- Documented experience in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and computer engineering techniques. Bioinformatics experience towards NGS and proteomics, and coding skills in R and Matlab are mandatory.
- Knowledge of AI applications in infection biology is an advantage.
Description
This four-year PhD position will provide opportunities for training as a first-class researcher in a vibrant and collaborative environment. Tasks will include:
- Investigating in-patient bacterial transcriptomes.
- Identifying in vivo-mimicking conditions.
- Analyzing survival mechanisms of bacteria resistant to antibiotic treatments.
