PhD Position in Molecular Control, Utrecht University, Netherlands

Postdoc in Netherlands

PhD Position in Molecular Control: Utrecht University’s Faculty of Science is offering a PhD position in the Department of Biology to investigate how Arabidopsis plants control their growth during and after an immune response. The position is part of the CropXR research programme, which aims to develop resilient, sustainable, and climate-adaptive crops. The successful candidate will work on high-throughput digital phenotyping, CRISPR-Cas gene editing, and quantitative proteomics to uncover the genetic and molecular basis of plant growth in response to immune challenges.

Description

This PhD project, embedded in the CropXR research programme, aims to explore how plants manage growth during and after immune responses. The research will combine digital phenotyping, genetic mapping, CRISPR-Cas gene editing, and quantitative proteomics. The project will be conducted in three phases: high-throughput phenotyping, genetic validation, and time-course proteomics and RNAseq. The PhD candidate will collaborate with researchers from multiple universities and companies, supervise students, and engage in teaching activities. This position offers a four-year contract with a competitive salary and benefits.
