Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in bioinformatics, data science, biomedicine, bioengineering, biotechnology, or related fields.
  • Programming experience in Python and/or R.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English.
  • Proactive, rigorous, solution-oriented, and a critical thinker.
  • Collaborative mindset with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary environments.

Bonus (not required):

  • Experience in single-cell and spatial omics data analysis.
  • Experience with highly multiplexed flow cytometry.
  • Background in immunology.

Job Description

The candidate will investigate the role of neutrophils in type 1 diabetes through:

  • Analyzing whole blood and sorted cells.
  • Utilizing single-cell transcriptomics and spatial transcriptomics/proteomics datasets.
  • Collaborating with core facilities like VIB Single Cell Core and KU Leuven LISCO.
  • Integrating findings from both circulation and pancreas tissue to assess neutrophils as effector, predictive, and therapeutic targets.
