Research Area
Biocatalytic depolymerization of biopolymers for recycling and biodegradation.
Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences and Technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- Experience in cloning in microbiology and/or the expression, purification, and characterization of biocatalysts.
- Strong interest in enzyme structure-function relationships.
- Proficiency in English and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical thinking and data analysis capabilities.
Job Description
As a PhD student within the ABEL consortium and at the University of Leiden, you will:
- Develop innovative biotechnological solutions for recycling and biodegradation of biopolymers.
- Publish high-quality scientific articles and contribute to project reports.
- Actively participate in consortium meetings, workshops, and knowledge exchange activities.
- Supervise BSc and MSc students, contributing to the academic life of the Macromolecular Biochemistry group.
