Eligibility/Qualification

  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Experience:
  • Experience in electrophysiology techniques.
  • Familiarity with animal experimentation.
  • Experience in analyzing neural data (electrophysiology or functional microscopy).
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in Matlab or Python.
  • Strong coding skills.
  • Fluent in written and oral English.
  • Personal Attributes: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team, motivation, responsibility, and enthusiasm for research.

Description

The PhD project focuses on validating optogenetic stimulation in Large animals (macaques) to induce and refine artificial vision. The candidate will explore the potential of optogenetic therapy within the brain using intracerebral viral delivery of opsins to modulate visual neurons with light from miniaturized implanted sources. This groundbreaking work could revolutionize brain-based vision restoration and significantly influence vision research.
