Study Area: The research project, named FLATLANDER, focuses on bending and twisting surfaces to precisely stack and form flat superstructures. It involves the synthesis of molecular systems and the study of their assembly in solution and on surfaces.
Scholarship Description: This fully funded project, supported by an SNSF Starting Grant, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in organic and supramolecular chemistry. As a PhD student, you will actively participate in designing new targets, utilizing advanced synthetic skills, and guiding their assembly into functional superstructures.
Eligibility: We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student with:
- Strong skills in organic synthesis, particularly aromatic systems
- A flair for non-covalent interactions
- Hands-on attitude, agility, ambition, and creativity
- Comprehensive experience (MSc or equivalent in organic chemistry)
- Proficiency in multistep organic synthesis, including microscale and inematmosphere procedures
- Experience in designing and planning complex synthetic sequences
- Familiarity with aromatic/functional dye chemistry
- Practiced spectroscopic skills, including UV-Vis, Fluorescence, and NMR
- Very good English skills (since our day-to-day language is English)
