Study Area: Due to the limitations of silicon technology, significant efforts are currently devoted to the development of organic electronics. Organic electronic devices offer intriguing properties such as flexibility, low weight, tuneability, low-cost manufacturing, and bio-compatibility. These features make organic electronics promising for a wide range of new applications. This PhD position focuses on Organic Field Effect Transistors (OFETs) for their application as biosensors.

Scholarship Description:

Open PhD Position in Organic Electronics for Biosensing

The goal of this thesis is based on the preparation of organic transistors (OFETs) for their application in bio-sensing. The work proposed is highly interdisciplinary, including the processing of organic materials, characterization of organic films, preparation of electronic devices, and the study of their electrical properties. Functionalization of surfaces with organic molecules for biosensing is also a key aspect of this research.

Eligibility: We are looking for a talented and highly motivated PhD candidate who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Nanoscience, and a recognized Master’s degree. An interdisciplinary outlook is desired and will be encouraged. Experience in electrochemical techniques and molecular materials will be highly valued.

Required Documents: Interested candidates should send a detailed CV, including academic records and a list of references with contact details by e-mail to Prof. Marta Mas-Torrent (mmas@icmab.es).

How to Apply: To apply, please send your detailed CV, academic records, and a list of references with contact details by e-mail to Prof. Marta Mas-Torrent (mmas@icmab.es). The position offers a unique opportunity to work in an international environment and receive strong multidisciplinary training within a dynamic team.

Last Date: The closing date for applications is 30 November 2023. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of an innovative research group in the field of organic electronics and biosensing.
