Eligibility/Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field
- Proficiency in molecular biology, especially DNA metagenomics
- Knowledge of bioinformatics and statistical tools
- Experience in data analysis and scientific publication
- Good English communication skills and ability to work in a team
- A driver’s license is beneficial
Job Description
The PhD candidate will:
- Conduct laboratory analysis of planktonic and benthic microorganisms, including shotgun metagenomics
- Perform field sampling along the salinity gradient of the Elbe Estuary
- Conduct bioinformatics and statistical analyses
- Relate environmental variables to microbial dynamics
- Engage in meso- and microcosm experiments
- Contribute to IGB’s scientific activities and publications
