Eligibility/Qualification:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Effective English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience working independently and in team settings
- Problem-solving skills and capacity to design experiments independently after initial training
Job Description:
The PhD candidate will conduct research to determine the pharmacokinetic properties required for effective insecticide uptake in malaria vectors. They will employ a range of techniques, including:
- Adult bioassays and laser dissection of mosquito cuticles
- Optimization of leg exposure methods
- Characterization of cuticular composition in insecticide-resistant mosquito lines
- Sample preparation for downstream LC-MS and MALDI-imaging
The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Victoria Ingham and collaborate with Dr. David Hong at the University of Liverpool, among other partners in a novel insecticide discovery consortium.
