Study Area:
- Quantitative in situ electron microscopy
- Metal halide perovskite materials
- Opto-electronic devices
- Low-dose electron microscopy techniques
Scholarship Description:
The PhD positions focus on the development and application of novel low-dose electron microscopy techniques, such as exit wave reconstruction and integrated differential phase contrast imaging, to study CsPbI3 thin films without electron beam damage. The project aims to expand these techniques to three dimensions using electron tomography and to combine them with in situ investigations using dedicated holders (e.g., strain, bias, gas, heating). The research includes developing quantitative methods to analyze low-dose TEM data and applying deep learning for accurate measurement of atomic structures.
Eligibility:
- Master’s degree in physics, applied physics, materials science, or a related field
- Demonstrated excellent academic results
- Strong research qualities in line with the faculty and university policies
- Enthusiasm and interest in electron microscopy
- Highly motivated, quality-oriented, and cooperative
- Affinity for experimental work and practical skills
- Interest in quantitative analysis of electron microscopy data
Required Documents:
- Motivation letter (specify for which of the 3 positions you are applying)
- Academic CV (including courses, honors, previous work, programming skills, publications, etc.)
- Weblink to a short video introducing yourself
- List and grades of courses taken during Bachelor and Master studies
- Contact information for 2 professional referees
How to Apply:
To apply for this position, complete the online application form on the University of Antwerp’s job application platform by clicking on the ‘Apply’ button.
