Eligibility/Qualification
- Academic degree in biology, horticulture, or agriculture, with an overall grade of at least “good”
- Knowledge and experience in plant cultivation under drought stress
- Practical experience with RNA (extraction, RT-PCR, RNA sequencing)
- Knowledge of programming languages (R or Python) for data manipulation and analysis
- Experience in quantifying plant metabolites using LC-MS
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team
Job Description
- Investigate drought tolerance of old crops, focusing on gene expression and biosynthesis pathways of secondary metabolites (flavonoids)
- Apply controlled stress treatments and phenotyping stress responses using sensors
- Conduct RNA sequencing and transcriptome analyses with bioinformatic evaluations
- Document work and analyze results in a scientific context
- Present findings at project meetings and conferences, and publish results in scientific journals
- Summarize results in a doctoral thesis
