Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biological Engineering, or equivalent.
- Alternatively, 240 credits in higher education, including 60 credits at Master’s level with a substantial independent project.
- Proficiency in English (written and oral).
- Experience in transcription, protein over-expression, ribosome purification, translation assays, and cryo-EM is advantageous.
- Experience in synthetic biology and proficiency in Swedish is helpful for teaching.
Description
The Forster lab focuses on synthetic bacterial protein-synthesis systems and aims to uncover fundamental mechanisms in translation. The PhD project, funded by Vetenskapsrådet, will explore key components of ribosomal catalysis and create the first synthetic ribosomal peptidyl transferase. The student will primarily focus on postgraduate studies, with up to 20% of time allocated for teaching and administrative duties.
