PhD Position in Quantum Chemistry: The University of Namur, Belgium, invites outstanding candidates for a PhD position in the field of quantum chemistry simulations of Raman Optical Activity (ROA). Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science.
- Recent MSc graduates (within the last 4 years) or candidates finishing their Master’s degree.
- Good knowledge of English (written and oral).
- Experience in quantum chemistry and usage of codes such as Gaussian, Dalton, Turbomole, QChem, etc.
- Coding experience in FORTRAN and/or Python is a bonus.
Job Description:

- Conduct quantum chemistry simulations of Raman Optical Activity.
- Investigate vibrational signatures of molecules in specific interactions with the solvent.
- Contribute to the broader project on chiral induction.
- Collaborate with the research group led by Prof. V. Liégeois at the laboratory of theoretical chemistry.
- Utilize computational facilities provided by the HPC consortium of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
Contract Details:
- 1-year contract, renewable up to 4 years.
- Salary follows the legal scale for doctoral positions in Belgium (approximately 2350 €).
About the Group: The successful candidate will join the group of Prof. V. Liégeois at the laboratory of theoretical chemistry, part of the Namur Institute of Structured Matter.
