PhD Position in Quantum Computer: Chalmers University of Technology invites applications for a PhD position in Optimal Control of a Superconducting Quantum Computer. As part of the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT), this project aims to advance quantum computation through modeling and control optimization of superconducting circuits. The selected candidate will collaborate with experimentalists and contribute to globally significant research.

Eligibility/Qualification

Required:

  • M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field (minimum 240 higher education credits).
  • Proficiency in conducting literature reviews.
  • Expertise in a scientific programming language (e.g., Python or Julia).
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for teamwork.

Desired:

  • Experience in modeling quantum properties of superconducting circuits (both analytically and numerically).
  • Familiarity with open quantum systems.
  • Background in optimal control methods.
  • Experience with machine learning for optimization or modeling.
  • Prior work in quantum computing or quantum information.

Job Description

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in quantum computing and superconducting circuits.
  • Develop theoretical models and optimization techniques for quantum information processing.
  • Publish research findings in scientific journals and present at international conferences.
  • Complete relevant coursework in the field.
  • Optionally contribute to undergraduate teaching (up to 20% of working hours).
