Research Area
The project encompasses the synthesis, characterization, and modeling of silica aerogel-filled elastomer compounds to study their thermal and mechanical properties. It is divided into four main work packages focusing on material characterization, modeling, heuristic analysis, and potential exploration of 3D printing of the composites.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Materials, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
- Proficiency in Python programming and preferably in finite element methods
- Strong knowledge of and experience in modeling material properties
- Excellent experimental skills and a passion for elastomeric materials
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
Job Description
The successful candidate will be involved in the development of a multiscale model and the experimental design, production, and characterization of silica aerogel-filled elastomer compounds. This will include studying the effect of filler characteristics on the final compound properties and validating model results with experimental data.
