Eligibility/Qualification

  • MSc degree (or equivalent) in Microbial Ecology or a related field.
  • Strong background in microbiology and molecular biology.
  • Experience with DNA/RNA-based methods in soil ecosystems and potentially flow cytometry.
  • Basic understanding of geo-bio interactions in soils.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary and international teams.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.

Description

The successful candidate will conduct innovative laboratory experiments using Antarctic soil samples to investigate microbial-driven soil formation. Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up laboratory experiments simulating soil formation under global change conditions.
  • Developing a cell separation technique in soil aggregates using fluorescence labeling combined with flow cytometry.
  • Analyzing microbial communities at the soil aggregate scale using multi-‘omics techniques.
  • Publishing research results in international peer-reviewed journals and presenting findings at scientific conferences.
