Eligibility/Qualification

  • A university degree equivalent to a European University Master’s degree or completed course requirements of at least 240 credit points, with at least 60 credit points at the second-cycle level.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong educational background in subjects such as biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology, or biology.
  • Experience in experimental molecular biology and cell biology is advantageous.
  • Ability in programming and computational work is considered a merit.
  • Aptitude for critical and creative thinking, excellent communication skills, and ability to work both independently and in an international team are essential.

Job Description

The PhD student will investigate the structure and function of viral replication organelles formed by positive-sense RNA viruses. This involves utilizing state-of-the-art techniques, including cryo-electron tomography and biochemical reconstitution. The position is designed to provide an environment for the student to develop into a skilled researcher, contributing to a better understanding of virus infections and their associated structural biology challenges.
