Scholarship Description:
PhD Position in Scanning SQUID Microscopy of Superconducting Qubits
The project addresses microscopic effects in superconducting circuits crucial for quantum computation, such as vortex formation and qubit decoherence. The candidate will develop nanoscale on-tip SQUIDs for scanning probe imaging, offering high sensitivity and resolution to map magnetic flux, current flows, and dissipated heat in superconducting devices. The goal is to guide material engineering and circuit design advancements by characterizing defects and decoherence mechanisms at the quantum level.
Eligibility: PhD candidates with experience in superconducting circuits or low-temperature scanning probe microscopy are preferred. A Master’s degree in physics or a related field is required.
