Eligibility/Qualification
- M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Ecology, Meteorology, or related fields.
- Knowledge of coding languages, ideally C++.
- Proficiency in Python or R.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and research.
- Willingness to complete a one-year research placement at the University of Melbourne.
- Readiness to engage with the LPJ-GUESS community and travel between KIT campuses.
Job Description
The selected candidate will be engaged in the following tasks:
- Familiarize with the LPJ-GUESS ecosystem model.
- Develop parameterization of European forest species within the model.
- Conduct literature reviews and support data sources for parameterization.
- Integrate plant functional trait-based methods in the model.
- Conduct simulations and evaluate model outputs against observational data.
- Create applications for model simulations and contribute to publications.
- Document code development and performance.
