Eligibility/Qualification

  • M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Ecology, Meteorology, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of coding languages, ideally C++.
  • Proficiency in Python or R.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and research.
  • Willingness to complete a one-year research placement at the University of Melbourne.
  • Readiness to engage with the LPJ-GUESS community and travel between KIT campuses.

Job Description

The selected candidate will be engaged in the following tasks:

  • Familiarize with the LPJ-GUESS ecosystem model.
  • Develop parameterization of European forest species within the model.
  • Conduct literature reviews and support data sources for parameterization.
  • Integrate plant functional trait-based methods in the model.
  • Conduct simulations and evaluate model outputs against observational data.
  • Create applications for model simulations and contribute to publications.
  • Document code development and performance.
