Eligibility/Qualification
- A completed university degree (Master or equivalent) in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Material Science
- Physics
- Computational Science
- Excellent grades in the aforementioned fields
- Experience in modeling and simulation
- Strong understanding of computational mechanics and finite element methods
- Practical experience in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems
- Structured, analytical thinking and reliable working method
- Interest in collaboration with experimentalists
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
Job Description
As a PhD student, you will:
- Develop automated workflows for descriptor-based microstructure reconstruction
- Identify material parameters for crystal plasticity simulations through inverse analysis
- Establish and link structure-property relations based on numerical simulations
- Transform data into AI- and ML-ready information
- Implement an indirect inverse optimization framework to identify desired microstructures
- Publish and present research findings at relevant journals and international conferences
