PhD Position in Water Resources: The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is offering one or two Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) in Water Resources. These positions are available for qualified Ph.D. students to start in Spring 2024, Summer 2025, or Fall 2025. The selected candidate(s) will be part of the Hydrological Extremes Lab, conducting advanced research on flooding and drought, and addressing major challenges in modeling and managing these natural hazards.

PhD Position in Water Resources – Graduate Research Assistantship

Research Area:
Water Resources with a focus on hydrologic and hydrodynamic modeling, geospatial methods using GIS, machine learning, and data assimilation techniques.

Location:
Oklahoma State University (OSU), Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Enrollment or intent to enroll in a Ph.D. program in Biosystems Engineering at OSU.
  • Strong quantitative skills and an interest in working with big data using high-performance computing systems.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and experience in at least one programming language (preferably Python).
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydrodynamic/data-driven modeling is highly desirable.

Job Description:
The selected Ph.D. students will join the Hydrological Extremes Lab at OSU, conducting research on flooding and drought. The research will involve the use of physical and statistical techniques, including hydrologic and hydrodynamic models, geospatial methods with GIS, machine learning, and data assimilation methods. Students will be expected to work with big data sets and utilize high-performance computing resources to tackle significant challenges in water resource management.
