Eligibility/Qualification:
- Completed Master’s (or 4-year Bachelor) in physics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong academic record demonstrating potential for research excellence.
- Background in one or more of the following areas: Bayesian optimization, Gaussian Process Regression, mathematical structure of quantum physics, condensed matter physics, atomistic modeling, or electronic structure theory.
- Strong interest in numerical methods and their applications to physics and materials simulations.

Job Description:
As a PhD candidate in the MatMat group, you will focus on the application of statistical surrogates within a Bayesian optimization framework to discover novel materials. You will participate in the following tasks:
- Develop robust methods to estimate errors in DFT simulations.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers on interdisciplinary projects.
- Enhance the efficiency of materials simulation processes.
- Engage in both theoretical and practical aspects of materials modeling.
Bonus skills:
- Experience in sustainable software engineering or high-performance computing.
