PhD Position – Microenvironment and Immunology: The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is inviting applications for a PhD position in the field of Microenvironment and Immunology Research at its partner site in Freiburg. The successful candidate will be part of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Medical Center Freiburg, contributing to cutting-edge research in cancer.

Location: DKTK Partner Site Freiburg, Department of Neurosurgery, University Medical Center Freiburg, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Motivated PhD candidate with experience in RNA sequencing, single-cell genomics, and spatial transcriptome analysis
  • Proficient in R and Python applications
  • Understanding of biological context and clinical issues
  • Minimum Master’s degree
  • Good communication skills in English

Description: The PhD position involves the application of spatial transcriptomic platforms such as Visium, Stereo-Seq, and MERSCOPE. The candidate will contribute to the development of novel functional read-outs, multi-omic data integration, and work with the software platform SPATA (SPAtial Transcriptomic Analysis). The research focuses on advancing the understanding of cancer microenvironments and immunology.
