Research Area

The research focuses on understanding and manipulating the interactions between ion transport, electrochemistry, and fluid dynamics within nanoporous materials. The successful candidate will aim to exploit these interactions to enhance the performance of electrochemical energy devices.

Location

This position is based at the Leiden Institute for Research in Physics (LION), within the Faculty of Science at Leiden University, located in the heart of the Bio Science Park, Netherlands.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong experimental skills and interest in microfabrication.
  • Aptitude for theory, modeling, and electrical measurements.
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated with excellent analytical skills.
  • Team-player capable of working in an interdisciplinary environment.

Job Description

As a PhD candidate, you will:

  • Design and fabricate micro- and nanofluidic structures using lithography.
  • Conduct sensitive electrical measurements to analyze electronic and ionic charge transport.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to analyze and interpret the results of your research.
  • Access state-of-the-art facilities both at Leiden University and Delft University of Technology.
