The successful candidate will work on developing innovative interactive systems, including social robots, chatbots, and intelligent virtual avatars, to provide personalized coaching and support in healthcare, sports, and rehabilitation.

Location: University of Twente, Enschede, Netherlands
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field
- Strong background in at least three of the research areas mentioned above
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar, and robotics middleware
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, cultural, and communication skills
- Experience in conducting and evaluating user studies, both quantitatively and/or qualitatively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team
- Creative mindset and excellent analytical and communication skills in English
Job Description:
- Conduct research on developing multimodal interactive systems for health coaching and rehabilitation
- Explore the use of Large Language Models and natural language conversations to enhance the personalization and sensitivity of these coaching systems
- Improve the physical interaction capabilities of socially assistive robots to achieve interactions similar to those with physiotherapists and caregivers
- Design systems that can interactively adapt their behavior to users’ coaching goals and preferences over time
Offer:
- Full-time position for four years, with a qualifier in the first year
- Salary range from €2,901 (first year) to €3,707 (fourth year) per month, according to the collective labor agreement for Dutch universities
