PhD Position – Plant Biochemistry: The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry invites applications for a PhD position focusing on the molecular mechanisms underlying trichome development and metabolism in tomato plants under heat stress conditions. This research aims to enhance understanding of plant resilience in changing climates and its biochemical processes.
PhD Position – Molecular Basis of Trichome Development and Metabolism Under Heat Stress at Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry
Designation:
PhD Researcher (m/f/d)
Table:
Field | Details |
---|---|
Research Area | Trichome development and metabolism in plants under heat stress |
Location | Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry, Halle (Saale), Germany |
Salary | Salary group E13 TV-L, part-time (65%) |
Duration | Up to 4 years |
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Excellent MSc degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology.
- Skills in bioinformatics are advantageous.
- A strong interest in plant responses to environmental stress.
- Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).
Description:
This PhD project investigates how heat stress influences the development of trichomes in tomatoes, particularly focusing on the transition from non-glandular to glandular trichomes. The researcher will develop techniques such as single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, analyze transcriptomic data to identify candidate genes, and perform functional characterizations, including gene editing. The position involves collaboration with other research groups and a variety of state-of-the-art methodologies.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should submit their application as a single PDF file, which includes:
- A cover letter detailing research experience,
- A curriculum vitae (CV) with any publications,
- A list of at least two references,
- Transcripts and study certificates.
All applications should be sent to bewertungen@ipb-halle.de with the reference 24/2024.
