PhD Position: Plant Cell: The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences I, is inviting applications for a PhD position in the DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG 2498 “Communication and Dynamics of Plant Cell Compartments,” specifically in project P05. The position is funded for 3 years, starting January 2024, with a salary according to Entgeldgruppe 13 TV-L (65%).
Summary Table:
Position Type | Duration | Salary | Application Deadline |
---|---|---|---|
PhD | 3 years | 65% | 15 Nov 2023 |
Study Area: The research will be conducted within the framework of the subproject P05 of the RTG 2498, focusing on jasmonic acid (JA) biosynthesis and perception in plants. The project aims to enhance our understanding of how plants perceive, transmit, and integrate information to prompt adaptive metabolic and growth responses.
Scholarship Description:
PhD Position: Communication and Dynamics of Plant Cell Compartments
The project P05, led by Dr. Debora Gasperini at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry, aims to characterize cellular events involved in Jasmonate biosynthesis initiation. The focus is on understanding how extracellular stimuli trigger and modulate JA production, specifically after mechanical wounding and osmotic stress. The research involves experimental work using primary roots of Arabidopsis thaliana and advanced in vivo imaging techniques.
Eligibility: Applicants must have an excellent MSc degree (or equivalent) in biology or biochemistry. Proficiency in plant organelle biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology is preferred. Advanced experience in molecular biological approaches, self-initiative, self-responsibility, and excellent communication skills in English are required. Motivation to work collaboratively within the RTG is essential.
Required Documents: Candidates are required to submit the following documents as part of the application:
- Cover letter detailing experience, research interests, and professional ambitions
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Unofficial transcripts
- Contact information for three professional/academic references
How to Apply: Please use the online application form available at this link. The submission deadline is extended until 15 Nov 2023.
Last Date: The submission deadline for applications is 15 Nov 2023.
